Stacey is from Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, where she channels her passion for the arts, the outdoors, and travel into her writing. A committed advocate for women's rights, Stacey is a trained gender specialist with the United Nations. She has volunteered with the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and participated as a delegate in the 65th and 66th sessions. During the 67th and 68th sessions, she was part of Canada’s rapid-response negotiation team.
Previously, Stacey was a member of the Canadian Association for Business Economics, where she shared her expertise as a mentor. She was also actively involved with the Canadian Federation of University Women, serving as Co-Chair of the Status of Women Sub-Committee on Human Rights and participating in the National Standing Committee on Advocacy. She was vice chair of the National Women's Commission for the Liberal Party of Canada and served on the executive board of Newfoundland and Labrador and various national policy committees. She is also a former vetted political candidate for the BC Liberal Party.
